Another brush with greatness!

Lemme tell y'all about another brush with greatness I just had last night! I cannot believe my luck.

As it happens, I was all set to go out and watch the newest blockbuster from Tim Burton, "Alice in Wonderland" but I had an hour or so to kill before the previews started, so I was looking into that Netflicks site Chad is always telling me about. Did you know you can watch movies online now? Well it was news to me! Anyhoo, I signed up for the free trial, and started watching a little "indie" movie that sounded good. It was called "Hollywood, je t'aime".

I don't wanna spoil it for you, so I'll keep details to a minimum. It's about a gay French guy who goes to Hollywood to make it as a star! Of course, things don't go quite as he planned.

Well, I intended to just watch a little and then go to see Alice, but I got so wrapped up in this cute little movie that I ended up staying in and watching the whole thing! The funny thing was (and this is the "brush with greatness" part...) half way through the movie, a character is introduced named Norma Desire. She is the transgender/drag-queen (not sure which) "house mother" to the main character. Well, I thought I recognized her. She's shown mostly out of drag, so I wasn't sure. But it turned out to be a Facebook friend of mine... Ester Goldberg! Y'all know Ester as the diva who writes the "Views From A Broad" Hollywood blog ("A daily dose of Showbiz Schmooze")! I love the "weekly wrap" video on Ester's blog... you can get all the Hollywood gossip you can stand in just a short clip.

Ester and I have sent a few messages back and forth, and commented on each other's blogs and such, so I sent her an email to ask if that was her in the movie, and she wrote back and said it was her "darling nephew Michael". (I think she was poking a little fun at me there for doting on my nephew Chad so much.) I just get so excited whenever I have an encounter with a star! One time I saw Peter Gallagher in a dinner theatre play and met him after the show. I was speechless. But he signed my program anyway. Chad seemed unimpressed, but then he's run into so many celebrities in New York City and Provincetown on his trips.

Until next time...

Love ya, hon!
