Anyhoo... I first started noticing a rise in Bacon's popularity a few years ago when my favorite kitsch purveyor, Archie McPhee, came out with a line of Bacon-themed merchandise (Bacon bandages, gummy bacon, bacon wallets, etc.) They are still my family's favorite source for holiday stocking stuffers.
Lately Bacon has exploded. Wendy's (y'all already know that Wendy's is the ONLY chain I will eat at!) is running an interesting promotion on Twitter, designed to increase awareness of their (awesome) hamburgers with bacon. During the promotion, they ask twitterers to tweet using the #bacon hash-tag. (I'm sure my nephew Chad will explain all of this to me.) Each day, Wendy's asks its Twitter followers to complete certain tasks, like tweeting a photo of yourself with bacon or coming up with a B.A.C.O.N. acronym. Bacon points are awarded for each task completed. Once all the points are racked up, the winner will receive $2,000 at the end of the promotion.
So this has resulted in my twitter feed being absolutely littered with posts about #bacon! Even though I love bacon, I find it a little annoying. One has to wonder about the brilliance of annoying potential customers by over-exposing bacon. (I'm sure some will call into question my devotion with that remark!)But it has resulted in more followers for yours truly, so I'm not complaining (much). And I do have an amazing assortment of Bacon-themed items in my Bacon Bits Boutique... so if you're all that into Bacon, check them out! You can save $5 off your order of $35 or more by entering the code VETERANSDAY9 at checkout. Sale ends Sunday, November 15th.
Love ya, hon!
