Blanche / Kennedy Center Honors

Alright y'all, I've had too much fun today to write about any one thing.

First there was Blanche Babcock's show on blogtv which is always entertaining. I don't know how she can keep up with all the comments while dodging the haters and looking fabulous all at the same time. If y'all don't know who she is, check her out here, here, here and here. I swear, she needs to be on RuPaul's Drag Race, or someplace that gets a wider audience (though she does pretty well for herself on YouTube). She could be America's first drag president!

After that, I turned on the TV while my dinner was heating up, to find the Kennedy Center Honors on. Shoot! I wished I'd knowed it was on earlier. When I switched on my set, they were in the middle of honoring Mel Brooks with a pretty decent medley of songs from his shows on Broadway. It is so nice to see we finally have a President and First Lady who can and do appreciate the arts. Without sitting there looking like "honey, when is this thing over?" like our previous prez.

But I just wanna say one thing... who the HELL let Aretha Franklin out the house looking like that? I tried to find a photo to show you here, but even though the show was filmed about 3 weeks ago, there is only one picture of her from this year's honors. And it's of her arriving in her black gown. But what she wore during her performance was a huge teal colored sari encrusted with silver embroidery. With that rainbow ribbon around her neck (somebody seriously needs to re-design the Kennedy Center Award) and her flat-ironed hair... well, I could not put it any better than somebody on Twitter said: Aretha looked just like a big fat sweaty Fabrege egg!

Here she is at 1:19 in this summary of the Kennedy Center Honors:

I'm off tomorrow to visit some friends for New Year's. So y'all have a SAFE and Happy New Year!

Love ya, hon!

You know, I wonder if Bush ever took time off from his grueling vacation schedule to attend one of these functions. Imagine him and the First Dimbulb bobbing their heads to City In Ruins.
